A vacancy has arisen for a Purchase Ledger Assistant at Smile Together Dental CIC, working within our Finance team, to support our continuing business growth and development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their finance career with excellent on-the-job training provided through a highly supportive environment.


Reporting to our Finance Manager, this position will suit someone who is IT proficient with strong Excel skills and has the ability to prioritise a large workload effectively, is highly accurate with attention to detail and has a genuine willingness to learn and make a real contribution to a busy team in a fast paced, high volume environment.


Responsibilities will include ensuring purchase invoices and credit notes are coded correctly and posted accurately and promptly whilst reconciling supplier statements.

Covering Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Smile Together is one of the South West’s largest NHS referral and emergency primary dental care providers. Our West Country Dental Care team provide urgent dental treatments for people who don’t have their own dentist, run out-of-hours surgeries and apply expert skills to treat children and adults with a range of special care needs alongside oral surgery, children’s orthodontics and treatments under general anaesthetic in a hospital setting. Under our Brighter Dental brand we provide competitively priced private dentistry from practices based in the heart of their communities, and we own a specialist dental laboratory DPS (Dental Prosthetic Solutions).

Job Title: Purchase Ledger Assistant


Salary: £16,770 - £17,980 per annum, depending on experience


Hours:  17.5 hours (part time)


Responsible and accountable to: Finance Manager


Location: Truro, Cornwall

The post holder’s responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring purchase invoices and credit notes are coded correctly and posted accurately and promptly

  • Reconciling supplier statements

  • Supplier invoice processing and validation

  • Actively engaging with Smile Together teams and participating in audit activities, planning and development sessions, and in-house meetings etc

  • Being responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis in sites of clinical activity, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and legislation, appropriate health, safety and security procedures within the work area, and report accidents, incidents and near misses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure

  • Undertaking other reasonable duties as requested by the line manager and Smile Together Management Team

Key accountabilities:

  • Maintaining and developing your continuing professional/personal development according to agreed training needs via our Smile Together Training Academy

  • Working alongside clinical and professional support colleagues in facilitating on-going organisational change and development

  • Working in our office in Truro.

This post requires two satisfactory references prior to start date.

Working conditions:

  • It is expected that the post holder will be willing to receive appropriate ongoing training and professional/personal development

  • The work is primarily office based and will include use of computer and telephony equipment

  • The work may include occasional light lifting duties such as stationery boxes, files, dental consumables or other deliveries

  • There will be occasions when travel to work in other locations will be required, with paid business mileage
