Tor Mark is looking for a high-performing Sales Director who will bring their own expertise and skills into our established publishing and distribution company.

 

Your role is to maximise our sales potential throughout the south west and beyond, delivering growth in line with the company’s strategic vision, while modelling outstanding practise in sales and account management.

Tor Mark has been publishing and distributing books for over 50 years. We are currently fulfilling an ambitious strategic plan which is enabling us to move into new markets outside of the south west. The successful candidate will become part of this team, driving change at an exciting time in the Company’s growth and development.

 

Salary will be between £34,000 and £37,000 per annum with regular reviews for uplift based on performance and successful fulfilment of key performance indicators. A car will be provided with other incentives to be discussed with the successful applicant.

Job Description for Sales Director

 

Role: Sales Director

 

Responsible to: Chief Executive

 

Objective of the role

To support the Company’s strategic development plan through consistently high performance throughout the company with a specific focus on sales

To be responsible for delivering Company growth through sales across the business

To be responsible for the design and delivery of Tor Mark’s sales strategy and leading & supporting staff to achieve the Company’s aims

 

Duties & Responsibilities


  • To lead the business in all matters relating to sales, both day-to-day and into the future

  • Design and implement a territory management strategy to include (although not exclusively), customer representation to existing accounts, identification of new markets, cold-calling into accounts based on market intelligence and personal expertise, detailed analytical reporting on current and potential trends within the sector and leading colleagues into new areas of service

  • Delivering year-on-year revenue growth

  • Identifying and engaging with key stakeholders and accounts and linking this with performance target within the business

  • Efficiently and effectively follow-up on all opportunities generated by marketing campaigns and leads from, self-generated and from colleagues

  • Manage and grow existing sales opportunities, leading colleagues in this area to ensure maximised sales opportunities

  • Maintaining detailed and accurate CRM records and pipeline of new and existing businesses, including oversight and training of colleagues in this area

  • Mentor existing and new colleagues (sales and office) as a senior individual contributing to the Company’s growth strategy

  • Be proactive in providing feedback to management on product, process and potential employment improvements

  • Lead staff in establishing aspirational targets to achieve sales success throughout the Company

  • Supporting the business through team-led initiatives including although not exclusively, Partners’ meeting, strategic planning days and stock taking

  • Development of strong intelligence and knowledge of the Company’s products and services

  • Review and on-going oversight of the Company’s current sale or return system

  • Ability to lead and manage presentations to key existing and potential stakeholders

  • Any other reasonable duties as required in order to fulfil the role of Tor Mark Sales Director

Person Specification for Sales Director

 

Experience and Qualifications


  • Demonstrable experience of leadership and strategy delivery within previous roles

  • Tangible sales experience either within or outside the publishing sector

  • Relevant, professional experience is essential and educated to degree level is preferred

  • An experienced and informed approach to data analysis and its role within a high-growth sales strategy

  • A proven track-record of sales utilising a variety of self-motivated selling techniques again within a high-growth sector

  • Experience and understanding of design and delivery of business strategy and its relation to company growth

  • Experience of CRM and an understanding of supply-chain dynamics would be an advantage

  • Experience of training and mentoring colleagues is desirable

  • Previous senior-level experience is not required although would be an advantage
